You can add JPEG or PNG photos for untagging. These two formats are the common file format for photos. Camera app in iPhone stores photos in JPEG format.
You will receive the message the first time you add photos from the Photo Library. This is a standard system message and an "OK" is required for Untag to access your Photo Library. Untag will never make use of any location info from your iOS device.
With location service disabled, only photos created on that phone (if you choose to disable location service for whole phone) or by apps with location service turned off will not have geotag in the photos. The Photo Library might contain photos you sync with iTunes from your Mac, or photos from other iPhones in Photo Stream album. With so many camera apps and photos sources, it is never easy to ensure all photos in your iPhone are free of geotag. Untag is created to be the go-to app you use for geotag free photos.
Untag will skip untagging a photo if the photo is not in JPEG or PNG format, or there is an error during untagging. Please email the photo file to for us to investigate further.
Untag does not keep any traces of location info in untagged photos. Thus it is not possible to recover them. When you add a photo from Photo Library into Untag, a copy of the photo is imported into Untag. The original photo in Photo Library is never touched and will have the location info intact.
